League of Legends boasts 27m daily active players

Popular multiplayer online battle arena title League of Legends supports 27m active players on a daily basis, developer Riot Games has announced.

The independent studio states the figure more than doubles the 12m active players the game boasted in October 2012 – adding that peak concurrent players have also increased to 7.5m, versus 5m in March 2013. Riot further claims that 67m players log time in the game each month.

The game has continued to grow thanks in large part to the eSports scene. Polygon notes that last year’s League of Legends Championship series garnered 32m unique viewers. Season four of the series started earlier this month.

The free-to-play MOBA is currently available on Windows PC and Mac.
