Microtransactions are coming to Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare

EA has said that microtransactions will be added to console title Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare this week.

Until now the title’s in-game currency has only been earnable by completing in-game tasks but, as is the way with many EA titles, an upcoming update will soon offer the chance for gamers to pay for virtual cash with real-world money.

Players will be given the option to purchase coins from the Sticker Shop, which allows players the ability to access new packs and character content more quickly – all the same content that can be earned through regular gameplay,” PopCap’s Brian Lindley said.

Now you have the choice to play your way; you can play to get new packs and content via earned coins in the game, or you can purchase coins to get more of the packs and content you want right away.”

Around a year ago EA asserted that, contrary to reports, microtransactions would not feature in all of its titles going forwards.
