Bad Company stays on target

Right from the off, EA hasn’t been afraid to be honest about its lofty ambitions for Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and four weeks on from its release DICE’s shooter is certainly showing the sort of charts staying power that EA would have hoped for.

BFBC2 is currently at number three in the ELSPA GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40, having held firm in the top five since its arrival on March 5th. In the same period games such as Final Fantasy XIII, God of War III and Aliens vs Predator have all come and gone.

It’s the sort of performance Battlefield will have to put in if it hopes to match EA’s ambitions of rivalling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s record-breaking retail performance.

We’re very excited with the success of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 not only from the positive press reaction but also from the feedback we’ve received from the players themselves via the forums,” the Battlefield franchise’s executive producer Karl-Magnus Troedsson told MCV.

In many ways, this has been a record breaking result for a Battlefield game – in addition to bringing the franchise finally back to PC, we’re absolutely thrilled that we’re still riding high in the UK charts.”
