PSP back on top in Japan

Having topped the Japanese hardware charts since its launch in late February, Sony’s PSP this week managed to recapture its former place at the top of the listings.

The device, which was the best selling console in Japan in 2010, shifted 57,379 units in the week ending April 3rd, according to numbers from Media Create.

By contrast, 3DS sold 42,979 units. This was followed by PS3 (27,453), Wii (10,249), DSi LL (9,706), DSi (9,566), PS2 (1,996), Xbox 360 (1,789) and PSPgo (696).

In the software charts it was a DS title that ruled the roost – Square Enix’s Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 Professional, which sold 163,008 units in its first week.

EA shooter Crysis 2 debuted at No.12 eight unit sales of 10,416.
