PlayStation VR dated for America

Sony’s first foray into the virtual reality space with PlayStation VR now has a release date… but only for the United States.

Sony Interactive Entertainment America boss Shawn Layden revealed that the hardware would be coming out in that territory on October 13th. There’s no word yet on when the tech will be hitting shelves in the rest of the world.

That being said, Amazon UK does list an October 13th release date for the hardware. We’ve reached out to Sony for clarification.

An October release window – and 349 price point for the UK – was announced in March.

That wasn’t the only new information about Sony’s VR content revealed last night. Layden also announced that 50 VR titles would be launching between the hardware’s launch and the end of 2016.

PlayStation also revealed that Resident Evil 7 would be playable in VR, while gamers are able to pilot an X-Wing in a mission in Star Wars Battlefront. There’s Batman Arkham VR experience on the way, as well as a first-person Final Fantasy XV virtual reality experience.

Farpoint from Impact Gear was also unveiled.
