Tekken director reacts angrily to fan criticism of new Tekken character Lucky Chloe

The director of Tekken 7 has said he will now not release a new character in the US after it received criticism on Neogaf.

New character Lucky Chloe was revealed yesterday but received a mixed reception from users of the forum, with some accusing the game of defaulting to a stereotypical sexualised Japanese female character type that’s really more appropriate for games like Dead or Alive.

In response, Katsuhiro Harada appeared to mock Western gamers’ taste in characters, suggesting they might instead prefer a generic muscled action man.

By the way, are you ‘Western’ only one bulletin board?” he said on Twitter. Hello small world. I’ll make muscular and skinhead character for you. Remember, I said we’ve more new characters and She is ONE on THEM.”

He then went one further by saying that he wouldn’t release the character in the US at all.

Calm down and don’t worry. That character is East Asia and Europe ‘exclusive’,” he added. She will be country exclusive (or region exclusive) character. We don’t include her for your region. I’ll release another character for you guys. I said we’ve more new characters.

Example: Looks well-muscled, Skin-head, Very powerful attack (I don’t like this idea but if you need).”
