Twitch mobile games streaming arrives on some Sony devices

Owners of the Xperia Z3 or Xperia Z4 are now able to stream their mobile games directly to Twitch.

That’s thanks to a partnership between the video network and Sony and marks a first for Twitch, which until now hasn’t offered a mobile streaming solution outside of a few select titles that have such functionality hardwired into them.

VentureBeat reports that the reason for the limited functionality is that Twitch still isn’t releasing a mobile app. Instead, Sony has developed the software, hence the limited compatibility.

The functionality will also be available on the company’s Z4 tablet.

The Twitch community is now prevalent on every major platform,” the company’s business development boss Brooke Van Dusen told the site, suggesting that perhaps broader mobile moves are on the way.

Sony’s Android Live Screen Streaming app can be found here.
