Publisher reported to be set to lay off 50% of workforce

Capcom Europe plans massive job cuts

Capcom Europe is reportedly about to cut more than half its staff as part of major restructuring.

The news, reported by Develop sister site MCV, comes after a difficult year for the publisher and a rectructure at its US branch.

“Following a restructure at its US operation, Capcom’s European organisation is currently evaluating its structure to ensure it is in the best position to take advantage of the changing market conditions the industry is facing,” a spokesperson told MCV, but did not confirm just how many jobs would be cut.

Profits fell 37.3 percent year over year to £5.5 million last quarter after some rather disappointing sales figures, and Capcom has decided the solution is to merge jobs together to cut costs.
