Digital Spy turns retailer with new online store

UK entertainment site Digital Spy has become an online retailer with a new website that sells video games, films, gadgets and more.

The venture is the result of a deal between publisher Hearst Magazines and online retail empire The Hut Group, which runs white label outlets for several other companies.

Digital Spy and sister title Men’s Health are the first two Hearst brands to get their own online store, with future launches planned for Cosmopolitan, Elle and Handbag later in the year. This network of sites is being called The UK Edit.

Media brands advise, inspire and share great new shopping opportunities with readers who in turn trust this independent advice,” said Hearst Magazines’ new business developer director Sharon Douglas.

Visitors to Digital Spy know exactly what to expect when going into the Digital Spy store as it reflects the editorial content of the site. Items are at good prices and therefore conversion and repeat visits are higher than ordinary outlets.”
