All Oculus pre-orders shipped, four months after launch

Its Rift headset was released in March of this year, and Oculus has revealed that all pre-orders have finally been sent out to customers.

That’s according to a post on the company’s blog, in which the firm also announced that all new Rift orders are shipping within two to four days.

In April, both Oculus and HTC Vive were suffering shipping problems. A week after launch, only UK Kickstarter backers had received their Rift headsets; pre-order customers had not. Subsequently, pre-order customers were seeing their orders pushed back as far as August.

Oculus Rift sets UK consumers back 500, a price that UK games retail warned is too high.

We want to apologise for the delays in getting Rifts to doorsteps,” the company said.

We appreciate that without your support, VR wouldn’t be where it is today. Thank you for your patience over the past few months”

Demos for Oculus Rift are also set for some retail stores in America, too. No demo plans have been announced for the UK yet, while rival HTC has brought its Vive hardware to a number of High Street retailers.
