Anonymous gets personal with Sony

An online campaign has been unleashed against Sony as hacker community ‘Anonymous’ vows to avenge what they see as the rough treatment of PS3 hacker Geohotz.

Earlier this week Anonymous stated: "Congratulations, Sony. You have now received the undivided attention of Anonymous. Your recent legal action against our fellow hackers, GeoHot and Graf_Chokolo, has not only alarmed us, it has been deemed wholly unforgivable."

This was followed by a DDOS attack on Sony websites that saw some taken offline for a short period, though Sony has denied this was the cause, stating:

"PSN currently undergoing sporadic maintenance. Access to the PSN may be interrupted throughout the day. We apologise for any inconvenience."

Now Edge reports that Anonymous splinter-group ‘Sony Recon’ is actively trying to obtain the personal details of Sony personnel or, as it describes them, "useful targets".

This apparently includes family members of key execs, including their children, as well as any lawyers involved in the case against George Hotz.
