Nintendo hardware gets Black Friday boost

The lucrative Black Friday shopping week has seemingly proved a very successful period for Nintendo.

CVG
reports that internal company estimates point to US sales of 900k units for DS and 600k units for Wii in the period between November 21st and November 27th. That represents total sales of 1.5m consoles in the period.

US shoppers bought about 9,000 Nintendo hardware systems non-stop for every hour of every day during the week of Black Friday,” Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime explained.

For the past several years, consumers have decided that Nintendo defined both top value and all-inclusive entertainment, and that sentiment continues again at the start of this shopping season.”
