Ziff Davis linked to IGN acquisition

Rumours suggest that Ziff Davis is on the brink of an acquisition of IGN.

Bloomberg reckons IGN owner News International is willing to accept a figure below $100m for the company.

As well as its gaming, movie and TV operations, IGN also owns Gamespy.com and Askmen.com.

The move comes as News Corp boss Rupert Murdoch prepares to split his carious publishing and entertainment entities as part of a wider restructuring.

Ziff Davis is the former owner of gaming site 1UP to UGO Entertainment in early 2009, having filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early 2008. It also used to publish Electronic Gaming Monthly, which was also close in January 2009.
