Users spend £7m on Angry Birds Space

Consumers have spent more than 7m on Rovio’s new iOS release Angry Birds Space in just five days.

The 69p app went straight to the top of the App Store charts at launch on Thursday, March 22nd. But a quick check today shows Draw Something from OMGPOP is back at No.1 with Angry Birds Space at No.2.

Space was downloaded 10m times in three days, meaning if you just take App Store downloads into account, consumers would have spent around 6.9m on the title. However, since the title has now been on sale for five days, and considering app prices differ across the world, it’s safe to say the 7m revenue figure is a fair estimation at this stage.

The game is also available as a higher-priced version on PC, Mac and iPad, although there is a free Android version too.

In comparison, previous expansion Angry Birds Rio reached 10m downloads after ten days on sale.Angry Birds games have been downloaded over 500m times in total.

The news was revealed on the official Angry Birds Twitter feed.

10 million Angry Birds Space downloads in less than three days,” it read. Thanks to our fans, stay tuned for more.”

Focus Multimedia is bringing a boxed version of Angry Birds Space to retail on Friday, April 20th.
