Driveclub won’t user microtransactions

The design director of PS4 racer Driveclub has stated that the game will not offer microtransactions.

Evolution Studios’ Paul Rustchynsky tweeted a link to CVG’s review of Trials Frontier which labels the game a microtransaction monstrosity”, adding that: Even Trials has been infected by this plague.”

When asked by another Twitter user if Driveclub would be free of IAPs, Rustchynsky replied absolutely”.

Ubisoft earlier this week confirmed that The Crew – like Forza 5 and Gran Turismo 6 before it – will offer players the choice of buying progress with real-world money.

A free version of Driveclub was at one stage at least planned to be made available for PlayStation plus subscribers. However, with changes at Evolution, a rumoured design re-think and a release date that’s still up in the air, who knows whether those plans still stand.
