Resident Evil: The Mercenaries due July

Upcoming action shooter Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will hit UK stores in July on 3DS.

Publisher Capcom and format holder Nintendo have signed a deal which will see the latter handle sales, marketing and distribution for the game across Europe. This was also the case for 3DS launch title Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition.

Mercenaries features re-mastered stages from Resident Evil 4 and 5 where players have to defeat as many enemies as possible within a time limit. It includes a single-player mode and a two-player co-op mode.

Playable characters include favourites from the horror series such as Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Albert Wesker and Claire Redfield.

Players can also use a new Skill Slot feature where they can choose three skills from a selection of 30 to suit their play style. These can boost weapon performance, reload speed, melee abilities and more.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D is the first of three upcoming Resident Evil zombie games.

Revelations is a more traditional survival horror title, due out on 3DS next year, while Operation Raccoon City is a re-telling of the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3. This is currently scheduled to arrive on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC later this year.
