AMD claims Mantle offers up to 45% performance boost over DirectX

Upcoming PC API Mantle could offer even bigger performance gains over DirectX than previously thought.

WCCFtech reports that when tested on hardware running AMD’s new A8-7600 APU EA shooter Battlefield 4 saw a massive 45 per cent performance boost using Mantle compared to Microsoft’s DirectX.

Of course it’s unlikely that the same gains will be seen with owners of more powerful dedicated gaming cards such as more recent Radeon or GeForce GPUs.

Mantle is yet to arrive having missed its second scheduled release date last month.
