The Sims Social passes Farmville on Facebook

EA title The Sims Social has seen its MAUs surpass that of Facebook giant Farmville on the social network. In total it now has an MAU base of 36m users.

VentureBeat reports that EA’s title picked up 1.7m new users yesterday alone, taking its weekly MAU gain over 8m users. That takes it beyond the likes of Zynga’s popular Farmville.

The Sims Social is now the fourth most played game on Facebook behind Zynga’s Empires & Allies, CityVille and Texas HoldEm.

Though Zynga remains the most powerful Facebook games dev with a total MAU footprint of 273m, EA now sits in second place with 77.8m MAUs, with much of that success coming from the new Sims title.
