Sony: We don’t have anything against EA Access

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president and CEO Jim Ryan has said that the platform holder doesn’t have anything against EA Access.

The subscription service is available on Xbox One but won’t be arriving on PS4, with Sony previously saying that it doesn’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer”.

Ryan has now told Metro that the decision is all about how such a system would sit alongside its own PSN subscription service.

We don’t have anything against EA Access, we just need to position it,” he said. These sort of offerings they’ve got to fit into the framework of everything we do and everything that we offer. And we’re just not quite comfortable with how it sits within the whole ecosystem of our digital offering, including PlayStation Plus.

You know we’ve got PlayStation Plus and we feel that offers our consumers the best value in terms of a subscription offer.”

Ryan and the interviewer actually go on to have a bit of a bicker about the whole thing, with metro accusing him of using marketing gobbledegook” and Ryan stating that your readers are probably more intelligent than you are”.
