New development team will set up shop in Fukuoka, Japan next month

Dark Souls dev From Software to open new studio

From Software, the studio behind the popular Dark Souls series, is planning to expand with the opening of a brand new development studio.

The firm is currently hiring for development staff for a new branch in Fukuoka, Japan, which will be established in October, according to a company statement.

The new studio will begin operations in January, creating 3D assets for From Software’s games and working closely with the main studio in Tokyo.

“The establishment of the new studio will expand our development capabilities to create globally competitive products,” the company wrote.

“Fukuoka and its surrounding areas are easy to reach from Tokyo and these areas have enormous potential as there are a number of passionate young people and rich living environments. From Software has high hopes that these high-potential areas contribute to build good development environments that lead them to greater quality and creativity.”
