Source claims studio could be shut down

EA Montreal struck by layoffs

EA Montreal has been hit by a round of layoffs, the publisher has confirmed.

In a statement to Gamasutra, a spokesperson said a “small number” of staff had been let go at the mobile developer. It added these would “not impact our current development plans”.

"We made a staffing change in our Montreal studio to align with our current development and service plans," read a statement from EA.

"A small number of employees were impacted, and we are working closely with each of them to ensure the best transition possible."

According to a source close to those affected, the redundancies could pave the way for the closure of Montreal studio, though EA has not commented on this.
