Independent studios now able to pick up Lite versions of professional performance capture kits

FaceWare launches mocap bundle for indies

Faceware has launched the Indie Facial Mocap Package, a collection of quality motion and performance capture tools aimed directly at independent developers.

The bundle includes Lite versions of Faceware’s most popular software, including Analyzer, Retargeter and the GoPro Headcam facial performance capture kit. It is targeted a studios working on mobile and indie games, a sector that has limited access to such tools.

"The games market is undergoing tectonic shifts as new platforms emerge," said Faceware’s business development VP Peter Busch. "With that shift, we’ve seen downward pressure on production budgets. Yet, at the same time, gamers continue to demand quality games with good stories and believable characters.

"With the new Indie Facial Mocap Package, we hope to give animators at every budgetary level the tools to create and add more realism to their characters, no matter what platform they are creating those characters for."

The indie bundle costs $2,995 – $700 less than if studios were to buy the included products separately.

Faceware has also updated its Pro Facial Mocap Package with the new HD Headcam Pro system and the enhanced Analyzer 2.0 Pro.

The Indie Facial Mocap Package and other Faceware products will be available for demonstrations at Faceware’s GDC stand.
