Project CARS Game of the Year SKU launching this spring

A new version of last year’s Project CARS is coming to stores in the coming months.

Imaginatively called Project CARS: Game of the Year Edition, the SKU will launch with both the core game and all of its DLC.

This brings the total car count up to 125, over 60 community-created liveries and 500-plus improvements to the game.

That’s on top of some new features – the Nrburgring Grand Prix circuit and two new vehicles.

Publisher Bandai Namco has given the title a spring 2016 release window.

Project CARS launched in May 2015 and went straight to No.1, holding that position for two weeks – a feat no Bandai Namco title had managed in 16 years.

It launched for PS4, Xbox One and PC, with a previously-planned Wii U version ditched.

Shortly after its launch, developer Slightly Mad Studios announced a sequel was in the works.

Almost five years ago, we started on a journey to create the most authentic, most beautiful, intense, and technically-advanced racing game on the planet,” studio head Ian Bell said.

The game that launched back in May of last year was therefore the ultimate culmination of our own experience making accomplished racing games for over a decade, along with invaluable input from real-world racing drivers who gave us unprecedented insight into the motorsports world, and the wishes and desires of the racing community through our equity crowd-funding platform called the WMD Portal which allowed fans and players to test the game from day one, and who gave us feedback and guidance every day thereafter.”
