CEO of Angry Birds studio Mikael Hed moving into animation and movies

Rovio boss steps down

Mikael Hed is stepping down as CEO of Rovio.

Hed has spent five years at the head of the Angry Birds firm, but will now be moving into a different position within the company. He will oversee animation and movie operations, according to Gamasutra.

He maintains he will still "play an active role" at Rovio. He has also been nominated to join the board of directors, and will continue as chairman of Rovio Animation Studios.

Former Nokia veteran Pekka Rantala will replace Hed as CEO on January 1st, 2015. He will work closely with Hed to ensure a smooth transition.

Hed co-founded Rovio back in 2003 with Niklas Hed, with the studio then known as Relude.
