[From the industry] Playing for the Planet and Green Game Jam 2025 winners revealed

This is a press release posted in addition to our usual editorial content.

The Playing for the Planet and Green Game Jam 2025 winners have been revealed. The 15 awards were given out last night at the BFI Southbank, to studios and individuals demonstrating excellence in the field of sustainable game development and pro-environmental storytelling.

The Playing for the Planet, Green Games Summit and Awards celebrate companies that have achieved excellence in developing and implementing environmentally themed content, strategy and tools into their games and studios as well as individuals showing outstanding leadership in this area.

“The creativity, ambition, and passion of this year’s winners and nominees has set a new standard. Every year the bar for impact, engagement and reach is raised,” said Sam Barratt, Chief of Youth and Education at UNEP. “We’re seeing more evidence that gamers want studios to take notice of how their games and actions make a meaningful and measurable impact in the world, and these trailblazers are proving this can be done. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees of this year’s awards”

Both the Green Games Summit and the Playing for the Planet Awards were delivered in partnership with BFI, Bastion, and Liquid Crimson, and with support from Ukie, Video Games Europe, Video Games Poland, Verband de deutschen Games-Branche, Dutch Games Association and Syndicat National Du Jeu Video.

There were 13  winners in the Playing for the Planet and Green Game Jam categories, and two special Awards given for Innovation, and one in the ‘All in for Nature’ category.
