Bastion developer Supergiant unveils Transistor

Supergiant Games – developer of the multi-award winning indie gem Bastion – has taken the lid off of Transistor, a sci-fi action RPG set to launch in early 2014.

The announcement comes on Supergiant’s blog, where Creative Director Greg Kasavin confirmed the entire Bastion team is onboard for the new project – along with some new members that have joined since the game’s launch.

Transistor stars a female protagonist who wields an extraordinary weapon of unknown origin” in a stunning futuristic city.” Supergiant says it hasn’t yet decided on platforms for the game, but an early build should be running on some kind of hardware when it’s on display this weekend in Boston.

The developer’s previous title won the hearts of both players and critics, with solid gameplay, a great look, and one memorable narrator. The multi-platform game launched exclusively on XBLA in July 2011, and by the end of the year, the game had sold over 500k copies and bagged over 100 awards.
