Xbox One Kinect, Riot on eSports and ex-triple-A indies set to star

GDC Next: New panels confirmed

Several new panels and sessions have been confirmed for this November’s GDC Next conference in LA.

Revently confirmed highlights include an exclusive Xbox One Kinect talk that promises to be ‘demo-heavy’, Riot Games, Twitch and Team Dignitas debating the ‘evolution of eSports’ panel, and a discussion focused on veteran triple-A developers from Bungie, EA, and Zynga setting up on their own as indies.

Titled ‘The Next Generation of Kinect,’ the talk from Microsoft will be delivered by its senior software engineer Claude Marais, who is set to detail the technical specifications of the hardware and software for the Xbox One’s own motion controller.

GDC Next – pitced as a spiritual succesor to GDC Online – will take place alongside the App Developers Conference from November 5th to 7th this at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

[Industry news] Physical disc production ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles

"As consumer preferences and the broader entertainment industry continue to shift away from physical discs to digital, physical game disc production for all new games releasing on PlayStation consoles will be discontinued starting January 2028.  Following this date, new games will be available on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital formats only. This transition has no impact on games that already released, or will be releasing, prior to January 2028 in disc format."
