COO resigns from social gaming firm to join engine creator as marketing chief

Clive Downie leaves Zynga, joins Unity

Zynga’s second-in-command Clive Downie has resigned from the social gaming company and taken on a new role at Unity Technologies.

The chief operating officer joined Zynga over a year ago from DeNA West, but now takes up the position of chief marketing officer at Unity, according to GamesBeat.

His departure comes just two weeks after CEO Don Mattrick left the firm, replaced by the firm’s founder Mark Pincus.

We interviewed Downie at GDC about the troubles facing the company as it transitions to a mobile-first model.

Unity CEO John Riccitiello told GamesBeat: “We are thrilled to have Clive on board. Clive and I go back a long ways. I’m super happy to have him. He has a deep history in mobile gaming and a long history of marketing skills.”
